Myself and my partner, Drew, hold Embodied Cacao Journey workshops every so often at the Old Print Works in Birmingham. We are often asked 'what's an embodied cacao journey?' so I thought I'd do a blog post to give you a little insight of the cacao ceremony so you can see if you fancy joining us sometime!
We begin the journey in circle, drinking ceremonial cacao together, setting intentions and connecting with the beautiful & delicious plant medicine.
Cacao has been used in ceremony for thousands of years by Indigenous cultures to support spiritual connection. It is a beautiful heart-opening medicine, releasing emotional blockages and aiding emotional healing.
Nicknamed 'Food of the God’s' for a reason; Theobroma Cacao is well deserving of the title 'superfood' as it is packed full of vital nutrients, compounds and qualities necessary for homeostasis. Homeostasis is the balance our bodies need to maintain in order to survive & thrive, regardless of external stimuli.
Below is a list of the benefits of cacao, although there is many more!

You will be guided into a gentle breathwork and somatic meditation exercise to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting a deep sense of grounding and calm.
Together we will journey with music into intuitive embodied movement, connecting with our life-force energy in moving meditation. You will be guided through this somatic experience, journeying into deep states of meditation with free-flow conscious movement to deep organic beats.
Through this deep connection with the body, we are able to connect with our authentic energy, releasing emotional blocks, tuning into our intuition and experiencing elevated states of consciousness.
This grounding practice can help you cultivate gratitude, self-love and confidence whilst helping to release stagnant energy, anxiety and stress. We invite you to close your eyes during this practice in order to get the most out of the experience.
After movement, you will be guided into a relaxing meditation, connecting with breath and bringing awareness to the sensations in the body.
Here you are invited to explore your inner world, processing any emotions, visions or insights that came up for you during your embodied movement journey. This is a opportunity for deep relaxation, release and rejuvenation.
